Music of the Spheres - The Ipswich Waterfront Soiree

Imagine.......2 giant spheres - the largest the size of a four-storey building - floating on the water at Ipswich Marina.

Inside one, suspended in the centre six metres above the water, an aerial dancer weaves up and down on a silk trapeze. The second Sphere weaves a ballet on the water with a flute player suspended inside. Searchlights and smoke effects complete the scene to create a unique theatrical event.

Art on the Ipswich Waterfront  -  Art Fair

Art Fair is a new event within the Ip-art 2011 programme that will showcase local talent alongside artists' of international renown.

Businesses along the Towns Waterfront are providing exhibition space for the event which is also supporting the Ipswich Art School Fundraising Appeal. A number of fun activities are taking place to help make an enjoyable and spectacular event including the unveiling of The Never Ending Mural on the Waterfront. Visitors are also invited to 'make your mark' at a special mural workshop at University Campus Suffolk hosted by artist and project curator John D Edwards.

As part of the Open Weekend in Suffolk the 13th Ipswich Sea Scouts and the Ipswich Sea Cadets are again jointly organising a joint Water Sports Event in the Ipswich Wet Dock at the TS Orwell Ipswich Sea Cadets HQ (near the Lock Gates).

This event is from 10am-4pm and open to the public and will offer taster sessions of rowing, sailing, and motor boating for those attending who are between the ages of 10-18years.

Heritage Open Days is England's biggest and most popular voluntary cultural event and the Ipswich Society organises access to many local buildings of historical interest with the co-operation of owners and occupiers.

Isaac's -
This site comprises one Grade 1 and 2 Grade 2 buildings and perhaps the finest example of 15th century Merchant's House and Warehouse. Machine room restored to full working condition.

Old Custom House -
This impressive 19th Century building is going to be opened and manned by the Ipswich Maritime Trust who will be presenting an exhibition of Ipswich's Maritime History
