Heritage Open Weekend Heritage Open Days is England's biggest and most popular voluntary cultural event and the Ipswich Society organises access to many local buildings of historical interest with the co-operation of owners and occupiers. Building in the Ipswich Waterfront area which will be open are; Holy Trinity Church - often as described as one of Ipswich's "best kept secrets" and the nearest "open" church to the Ipswich Waterfront (bottom of Bishops Hill/Back Hamlet) University College Suffolk (UCS) - Iconic waterfront building a fascinating building (Ipswich Waterfront) Isaac's - This site comprises one Grade 1 and 2 Grade 2 buildings and perhaps the finest example of 15th century Merchant's House and Warehouse. Machine room restored to full working condition. (Ipswich Waterfront) Old Custom House - This impressive 19th Century building is going to be opened and manned by the Ipswich Maritime Trust who will be presenting an exhibition of Ipswich's Maritime History (Ipswich Waterfront) St Peter's Church - Probably the site of the 1st church in Ipswich. Present building 14th Century and home of the Ipswich Charter Hangings (St Peter's Street) St Clement's Church - Built in the 14th Century and known as the "sailors church" (St Clement's Lane - near Fore Street Swimming Pool) Suffolk New College - State of the art building - well worth a visit!
