We have been working behind that scenes over the last year or so and are now ready again to have more activity at the St Mary at the Quay Ipswich Waterfront Church and move closer to the renovation work beginning.

This week we started an archaeological dig where the new extension will be. We are may find a medieval burial ground and also as we are close to the Saxon Waterfront we may be able to find evidence of Saxon Ipswich – all very exciting! We are holding an Open Event on Monday 23^rd January from 10.30 to 2.30 at the church where you will be able to see the dig in progress and talk to people about the archaeology and also find out more about the progress of the project generally. There will be refreshments in the church and an exhibition of the plans - so do also come in and look around. We have a facebook page with other information and pictures go to http://www.facebook.com/stmaryatthequay

If you don’t know where St Mary at the Quay is, it is the church behind Regatta Quay.

Friday (24^th) kicks off at 4pm and goes on to late and will include a

· Waterfront Soiree Market – incorporating crafts, gifts, art and desirables (from 4)

· 50^th Pin Mill Barge Match (7.30 for 8)

· Carnival Arts Parade (8.15)

· Launch of the Ipswich Arts Festival ((Ip-art)

· Music of the Spheres (10pm)

This will be an evening not to be missed. To make it even better the road will be closed from 3pm-11pm so there will be no “near-misses” which seem to be happening so often nowadays

UCS are inviting residents of Ipswich Waterfront to a “follow-up” meeting on Tuesday 29^th March (6pm-7pm) in the Lecture theatre in the UCS building on Ipswich Waterfront The aim of this event will be to provide you with a summary of their findings from the consultation process undertaken and to advise us of the conclusions we have drawn as a result of this.

The event will also give you and all our other neighbours the opportunity to input any further feedback or comments on our proposals for the future development of the campus estate.
